in 1968, Spencer Silver was trying to create a super-strong adhesive for 3M.
instead, he accidentally created one that was weak enough to peel off easily.
sounds like a failure, right?
but years later, his colleague Art Fry realized that same "useless" adhesive could hold his bookmarks in place without damaging his hymn book.
that little discovery eventually became the Post-it Note.
sometimes, the value of an idea isn't obvious when you create it.
