To put a point on this, I simply would not make a big show of how I am buying favor for my minority issue 1/5 Americans is a MINORITY Every minute spent ramming this legislation through is a minute spent not working through the tough stuff that affects the MAJORITY I use crypto every day at this point. Yes probably all these laws would benefit me PERSONALLY But I want a good SOCIETY not PERSONAL BENEFITS Sometimes that means putting a pause on what’s good for me personally. Sometimes that means taking a hit so we all can have better, together And it’s depressing to see people who are otherwise against this type of thing cheerlead for it because it DOES benefit them You hate Big Pharma, Big Ag — why is Big Crypto any better

But it's a majority issue for Coinbase as a company. Like if you work on something that doesn't affect the majority of people, that's not a reason to just stop doing it.

Many of the issues that have now become majority issues have started as minority, even fringe issues.

Usually the minority group does work to win hearts and minds first. The fact you can just buy your way to action and there’s no prioritization towards what’s best for the people RIGHT NOW is problematic to me

I think I understand your point. I guess in America at least it's pretty normal to spend money to market certain issues as stakeholders and then it's ultimately the public's job to influence how things get prioritised. My point is to say that it's unrealistic to assume Coinbase would act any differently or focus on issues outside of its mission and hence remit.

Of course Coinbase has to play the game. I think the game is fucked up. Our representatives should work for us, not for who can afford to pay them the most
