Despite having made it, to this day I still drive a normal car (Dacia duster).
A car far cheaper than most of my age-related friends have with far less.
I always envision myself one day having kids moving out of the house asking me:
"Mom, why is buying a house so hard? Why can't anyone help?"
"Was a fancy BMW, Mercedes, Porsche or a lambo truly the only way to get to the beach every day?"
Obviously, they will likely not ask me this in this manner of speech. But I think the entire idea holds up.
- People mostly don't struggle with the monthly payment on a mortgage (rent comes close).
- People struggle getting the down-payment needed to get the mortgage.
- People rent first and then try to save up enough to one day buy a house.
- But rent is getting so much out of control that they can't save up for a house in the first place.
It's basically an entire negative loop most can't escape from.
(I see it all the time. Most of my age-related friends in their 30s still all rent)
