The Mirror Knows -By Nooriya Siddiqua I look, it looks the same, but late, A half-second off, like a hesitant fate. It copies my face, but not my breath, Its eyes too still too close to death. Sometimes I blind... it doesn’t try. Sometimes it smiles, I wonder why. I touch the glass, it feels too warm, Like something living took my form. I turn away, but feel its stare, Breathing softly, through the air. And in that silence, I can hear, A whisper crawl from in the mirror. It says, “You’ve looked enough, step through The one inside looks more like you.”
