I want to tell you about a small part of what's happening in this region right now. Yesterday, two water reservoirs serving a coastal village near the Strait of Hormuz were reportedly destroyed. As a result, around 20,000 civilians lost access to a critical source of water. Keep in mind that temperatures in that area are currently reaching 40–50°C (104–122°F), which is comparable to some of the hottest parts of Arizona. Today, there were also reports of an attack involving a traditional cargo boat carrying civilians. People were left stranded at sea and some had to be rescued by small local boats. Please don't automatically accept everything politicians or media outlets tell you, no matter which side they're on. In every war, governments present their own narrative, but the people who suffer the most are usually ordinary civilians. What I keep seeing is that these attacks are often justified by claims that military equipment, air defenses, missiles, or other military targets are nearby. Maybe those claims are true, maybe they're not. But when the result is destroyed civilian infrastructure and innocent people losing access to water, food, safety, or even their lives, those consequences cannot simply be ignored. From where I stand, it looks less like protecting civilians and more like applying pressure on a government by making life harder for the people living under it. And regardless of anyone's political views, ordinary men, women, and children should not be paying the price. I'm not asking you to agree with me on everything.
