The Zama Protocol is designed for Horizontal Scalability, achieved by moving the computationally heavy Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) operations off the sequential Host Chains (L1s/L2s) and onto specialized Coprocessors. @zama This design allows the protocol to parallelize the execution of FHE computations; as long as encrypted values are not sequentially dependent on a prior FHE output, the system can dramatically increase throughput simply by adding more Coprocessor servers. This architectural decoupling enables the protocol to currently reach over 20 transactions per second on CPU and is projected to scale to thousands of transactions per second with future adoption of GPUs and dedicated FHE ASICs, ensuring the Zama Protocol can meet global payment and application throughput requirements.
