Today, we’re learning about the toxic methylmercury in fish that we eat! It’s important to not eat too much, especially if you’re pregnant, to prevent cognitive defects and immune systems issues. It occurs with processes called biomagnification and bioaccumulation absorbing the toxin into fatty tissues. Thanks!!

It’s just soo sad that what used to be a super healthy food, that many costal peoples had as the main part of their diet, only 100 years ago is now toxic to eat more than once in a while….😓

True!! Fortunately as mercury pollution has lowered the concentrations have finally leveled out decades later but not reduced much :(
