Indonesia has introduced a ban on sex outside of marriage — this rule also applies to tourists in Bali.
On January 2, a new Criminal Code came into force in the country, which provides for punishment for extramarital intimate relations and cohabitation without marriage registration, reports Reuters. This rule applies not only to Indonesian citizens, but also to foreigners.
Violations can result in up to one year in prison. In this case, the case can be initiated only at the request of close relatives — a spouse, parents or children.
