New systems and networks are created on a regular basis and initially attract my attention (Handshake, Farcaster, &c) before I realize that folks with perverse incentives were present the entire time. Social media is tricky because humans are hardwired for connection. No way around it. Even recluses venture into town periodically, just to feel the presence of others before retreating. The problem is other people adding casinos and greed into the mix; fucks everything up.
