“The story of the Tang-e Abolhayat refers to the historic and heroic battle of the Iranian commander Ariobarzanes and his sister Youtab in a mountain pass (now known as Tang-e Abolhayat) on the route from Shiraz to Kazerun, against the army of Alexander of Macedon. There, Ariobarzanes, with a small number of troops, blocked the way, inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, and was ultimately martyred in this pass along with his heroic sister due to the betrayal of a shepherd.”
