I think it comes down to a willingness to negotiate. Nukes automatically give anyone a seat at the table and make enemies less likely to attack within a nuclear power’s borders.

Exactly. It is very clear by now that nuclear weapons make unstable regimes less attractive targets. MAD is absolutely going to fail when too many nations have nukes though. Every new nuclear power dramatically increases the odds of a nuclear war.

Ukraine has been partially occupied for 11 years and are still under attack by Russian forces. Which would never happen if they had the bomb still. Iran essentially halted progress at the 90 yard line and used it as a negotiating tool. Would Israel have tried to decapitate their leadership if they’d completed the bomb instead of thr JCPOA?

The problem with drones IS the numbers. Older air defense systems that spray a firehose of lead are good against them, but rocket systems and other modern stuff gets overwhelmed or depleted.

Yeah that’s what I’m worried about. And they’re exchanging weapons with Russia, so the arms trade can hypothetically go both ways. I really don’t want us to lose an aircraft carrier. For context Iran built a 1:1 model of a US carrier in order to train in capture/destruction of them. So that’s a priority target of theirs.
