Corporations should have a hybrid approach. Bottoms up authority/decision making should be allowed too - something like nullification. A manager should be allowed to override a director, a director should be allowed to override a exec and so forth [in certain and specific cases only] and be able to move forward.

Random observation: IMO, One thing most people get wrong is appreciating versatility. Some who has already done ten different things is > some who has done one thing for longer duration. In most cases, former has a can do anything (and eventually everything) attitude. Ofcourse open to counter arguments.
