The Base network is currently undergoing significant technical developments as we move through the summer of 2026. Recently, the network experienced two brief outages caused by a sequencer failure, prompting the team to significantly strengthen their monitoring and recovery mechanisms. Despite these technical hurdles, @base.base.eth remains a dominant force in the Layer 2 ecosystem by shifting its focus toward sustainable on-chain revenue and capital efficiency. In a major step forward, Base is actively collaborating with Optimism to integrate native account abstraction directly into the OP Stack. Developer testing for this critical feature is already live and functioning smoothly on Vibenet. The full mainnet rollout for this integration is officially scheduled for the highly anticipated "Cobalt" upgrade coming this September. Furthermore, Coinbase has recently expanded the network's utility by launching innovative tools that allow AI agents to seamlessly execute on-chain trades and payments.
