Some technical details about @reachbot: its core infra, like user swap tracking, is built with open-source tools, making the app very cheap to run.
Why it matters:
* Low running costs – This allowed me to keep the app running through hype cycles. When trading spikes, user growth and dev rewards follow, but things go down pretty fast in crypto. Keeping the app live helps me spot patterns, understand users, and generally learn more about trading space.
* Scaling & flexibility – By not relying on third-party APIs for trading data, I’m free from limits on supported chains or activity types they provide.
For example, I can add new protocols or activities to track, like perps or prediction markets just by updating the open-source code.
