One of the most bleak things I have ever read When you read this, it makes perfect sense why people bully, shame, and outright ignore people who push tech and by extension the “technofeudalist rat race” on them Why reinvent the Bible when you can just tell the people shoving mass purposelessness and nihilism down society’s throat to FUCK OFF

I think Bryan “I lie about the efficacy of my own protocol” Johnson’s whole Don’t Die thing is an attempt to reinvent religion for ~our time~ per the snippet above and wow what an off putting attempt at doing that

They all just need to read Fromm. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Fromm The pursuit of more, more, more is always empty in the end, and they eventually get all the weird sexual stuff as they try to push the limits (still convinced the longevity shit is mostly about sex). When they discover that they cannot avoid the meaninglessness of materialism, they try to find religion and build meaning into it. But it's a false god.

the world be a better place if more of us read fromm i am sure there's some freudian read on the death drive in this don't die cult too - it appears quite a nihilist endeavor to begin with.

Certainly a lot of ego at work. Agreed it is a subtle kind of nihilism in that they seem to recognize they have no deep beliefs other than their own survival and the god of "more" : more time, more money, more stuff, more sex, more some sort of belief that will maybe fill this deep, deep hole in my soul.

for the bryan johnson case there's also a complete outsourcing one's agency to the "don't die" algorithm so, that's not even a real life anymore. you can't eat ice cream at 3pm because the protocol. what kind of depressing existence.

Yeah, some sort of status-seeking they can't get over.

a better strategy would be to get over your fear of death. So far, the odds of not dying are not in anyone's favor. Plus old age is just nasty, best to keep it short.
