According to court filings published on November 14, Ilon Musk rejected the idea of launching an OpenAI ICO in 2018.
The proposal was supported by co-founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, but Musk felt that such a move would have seriously damaged OpenAI's reputation as a developer of generative AI.
This conflict became part of a legal battle between Musk and OpenAI that began in August 2024.
