LETS TALK ABOUT BASE NETWORK ITSELF. Base is a "Layer-2" chain built on Ethereum. That means it runs on top of Ethereum and batches transactions off-chain, then settles them on Ethereum. This approach offers much lower fees and faster transactions compared with doing everything directly on Ethereum. help.coinbas e.com +2 Base was launched by Coinbase in 2023 and uses the open-source "OP Stack" (originally from Optimism) to power its network making it fuly EVM-compatible (so tools and smart-contracts that work on Ethereum generally work on Base too). The goal of Base: to make blockchain apps (decentralized apps, or "dApps") cheaper, faster, and more accessible for both developers (who build dApps) and users (who transact, swap, stake, mint content, etc.).
