Projects with weak on-chain performance sometimes distribute airdrops more generously to attract users. These teams may lower the eligibility thresholds, making it easier for casual participants to qualify. The goal is to incentivize interaction and build momentum around their ecosystem, even if activity was previously low. However, while such projects may offer easier access, the rewards often carry higher risk. Tokens from underperforming protocols can be volatile, illiquid, or decline in value quickly after launch. So while it may be easier to receive allocations, the long-term benefit depends on whether the team can turn poor performance into growth. Opportunistic airdrop hunters may win tokens easily, but sustainability remains questionable.
