Lifting tip for my experienced exercisors: During max-intensity lifts drive your tongue into the roof of your mouth with a clinched jaw to improve your bracing and ability to push through sticking points Cleans, overhead presses, deadlifts, bench; basically any compound lift

Ok this is pretty crazy The Ecom world has been talking about how AI tools like GPT are basically going to become the new search engine I haven’t written on my Substack in over a year but my old material must be getting hits Future SEO isn’t going to be about ranking on Google it’s going to be about convincing or tricking AI into recomendding your product for you Consumer decision making is going to be outsourced Wild times ahead

Fun little I speak Spanish moment The apartment building I live in has office space on the ground floor It’s been empty for a minute but there’s a new tenant coming in and they’ve been doing construction but we don’t know what it is yet So I see a dude hanging out front and ask him what the business is He looks at me with that “I have no idea what you’re saying look” and after a minute goes, “ehhh, habla español?” Luckily, yes I do! So I ask him again in Spanish and he tells me it’s a nail salon Ok cool My favorite thing about learning the language is being able to have these little interactions! And the surprise on his face when in fact I do speak Spanish lol

Young people shouldn’t take sleep advice from older adults and vice versa When you’re in your 20’s sleep is an optimizer, it’s nice to have and will certainly make you perform better but it’s not necessary Some grit and willpower can get you through most things (& there’s drugs [caffeine]) for the rest But as you get older sleep becomes an absolute bare minimum for performance No longer is it a nice to have, it’s absolutely vital to function Use your younger years to draw on the advantage of not needing as much Because when you get older those 3a nights are gonna take you days (if not a week) to recover from

It’s really helpful because speaking is so much harder than listening so you really have to be engaged And if both are practicing their non-dominant language than either of us can switch to correct or clear mix ups Highly recommend two people learning opposite languages do this

Why speaking in Spanish is the only way to truly learn Was talking with a friend at the gym today (he works out at the classes) He’s from Venezuela and just started English classes at local community college He talks English and I talk Spanish and we correct each other Anyways I was trying to tell him that I was going to train shoulders during my workout, but I didn’t know how to say shoulder I knew it was something with an H, so threw out “horno” which is oven and definitely not shoulders lmao He laughs and says no that’s an oven Then he was like you give up? Yea ok go ahead tell me “Hombro” DAMNIT! I was close!! We laughed and moved on And so while I just learned how to say shoulders, because of this interaction I will never forget it

My Uber driver earlier picked me up and his maps wasn’t loading Didn’t speak any English So I’m in saying in Spanish, “we’re going to the airport, do you need directions? You can use my phone” He kept saying something I didn’t understand and I told him so, then he used Google translate and it came out saying “I’ll have to call you back” I was like uhhh yea I still don’t understand lol so after a couple minutes neither of us understanding each other his maps loaded and we left As I’m getting out I say “mucho gracias” and he goes “OHHHH!!! Español!!!” And I’m like bro yes do you not realize we were talking in Spanish before?? Lmao Being a gringo people don’t understand that you’re speaking Spanish even when you are. Kind of hilarious

Treated a new client today She hurt her back and was in excruciating pain, could barely walk. Someone referred her to me and I said ok I use what I call “dynamic pricing” which can be summed up by saying the less I know the person and the harder their problem will be to fix the more I charge So I quoted this person in the upper bracket of my price range Anyways she comes in in bad shape, very nice woman, and I spend about 2 hours with her (way more than normal) because she needed the help and I had the time I was asking her if she had seen anyone else for this issue, etc, and if she had ever received bodywork before, she said no And I was like wow ok that’s bold to come in for a session having no idea what this is about And she said, and I quote, “I could barely walk and you came really highly recommended, and you were really expensive so I assumed it had to be worth it” So yea, if you’re ever doubting yourself, charge more

Played with a D3 college golfer today He shot -1 on a really tough course I was ~5 yards further than him off the tee box which made me feel good lol But he was just wicked consistent and a really good putter Every approach shot within 10ish feet and all chips were tap-ins He didn’t make mistakes and just played consistent solid golf Me and him were on a team for our match and we took it on the last hole 😎 I won us 4/5 par 3’s and he brought us nearly every other hole lmao Once again playing with people significantly better than you is ++EV

Was out to dinner in Brickell last night with a buddy of mine. We were just chilling catching up And this finance bro cold opens us and quickly segues into being a financial advisor of some sort Starts asking us if we own a business and what we do etc etc I got a pretty short fuse for this stuff so it didn’t take long before I started getting a bit rude “it’s irrelevant what I do. Whatever you’re offering I’m not interested” He then acted like I was being a dick lmao like “oh man sorry if I offended you I was just asking” No you weren’t bro. You interrupted my dinner with my friend and tried pitching services. Gtfo of my face. Anyways I shooed him away quickly and my friend who doesn’t like confrontation was like yo that was kind of dickish I was like I know but I’m not gonna let this chump burn 15m of my time pretending to be interested in whatever he’s selling just to say “no thanks” I took the aggressive route and skipped to the end lol Thoughts? Was I the asshole?

Blow up holes are my enemy right now, still trying to curb it. My downfall today was 4-hole stretch where I went bogey-quad-triple-double That’s 10 strokes right there 😩 Part of the process tho golf makes you play the highest EV shot for 4 hours straight. Not easy!

Golfed with 2 scratch players today I had the most birdies at 3 (1, 2, & 18) meanwhile they each had 1 a piece I shot a 90 and they shot an 78/79 Golf really is a game of minimizing your mistakes and I love playing with scratch players because not only do I learn something new but it makes me a better player every single time Practicing/playing with people above your skill level on any sport is a cheat code to fast tracking your improvement Just don’t let your ego get in the way

True 1m is more acceptable but less challenging. I think 10m is the way to go. What’s your O/u for me? You set a perfect line last time lol
