I had never been much of a runner and had always avoided the school mile. I was therefore taken aback to see that I was at the beginning of a midnight marathon. I was persuaded to attend my buddy Jess' charity marathon because I missed it. We raced under a full moon while I was distracted by her stories till I started to feel tired. Constantly encouraging, Jess gave me praise and snacks.
