2025 marks a breakthrough year for @zama , the pioneer of Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). In June, Zama raised $57M in Series B funding, surpassing $150M in total and becoming the first FHE unicorn. Soon after, it launched the Zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol and opened its public testnet, allowing developers worldwide to build and test encrypted smart contracts.
Momentum continued through the summer with major upgrades: TFHE-rs v1.3 delivered faster performance and new capabilities, Concrete v2.11 enhanced Rust–Python integration, and the release of FHEVM v0.7 testnet enabled encrypted smart contracts on EVM chains.
In August, Zama partnered with Conduit, showcased the first confidential onchain auction, launched Bounty Season 9 with a $10,000 prize, and sponsored the Privacy Summit in Buenos Aires.
Zama’s progress this year proves one thing: privacy is becoming the foundation of the next generation of the internet. Truly, 2025 is “The Year of Zama.”
