Zama is a French technology company founded in 2020 by Rand Hindi, an AI expert, and Pascal Paillier, a leading cryptographer. Their mission was clear from the start: to bring Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) into real-world use, especially in AI and blockchain, where data privacy is critical. Traditional systems require decrypting data to process it. Zama wanted to change that. With FHE, data can be processed while still encrypted, protecting users from leaks and breaches. Zama quickly became a pioneer in this field, releasing open-source tools like Concrete to help developers use FHE easily. The company’s name, while never officially explained, may hint at a turning point much like the historical Battle of Zama. Since launch, Zama has grown fast, attracting major investors and pushing the boundaries of privacy first technology. Their tagline says it all: “AI without data leaks.” Zama isn’t just building tools they’re reshaping the future of secure computation.
