Luke-warm take following Halliburton’s and Tatum’s achilles issues and the general pattern of these injuries: it’s some unholy combination of… 1) super early athlete specialisation 2) all time high load accumulation compounding 3) proliferation of “high tech footwear”, limb supports etc. 1) kills general vitality in relation to unexpected stimuli. 2) means that mid-20s players probs have equivalent wear and tear of 10-15 yrs vets in comp to prior eras. 3) results in distribution of forces as players sink and draw energy from the ground diverging from actual human movement patterns and leaking in weird ways.
