Adaptive Oncogenesis by James DeGregori. I really enjoyed this. The proliferation of cancerous cells is more than just the accumulation of cellular biological trials. Evolutionary dynamics—such as occupying reproductive lifecycle phases or being at the upper end of human lifespan—and the enveloping tissue macro-environment are big factors.
