having expensive hobbies is so brutal

anytime i want a new guitar or watch i have to exercise delayed gratification and setup a separate account to save up and make it worth it (adulting ew)

should have picked crochet or thrifting

Cool! I couldn't recognize it by shape and the headstock logo, and this confirms it haha. I'll take a look at Collings! I've had a similar "problem" and went with a Taylor GS Mini, been my favorite acoustic to play since🔥

It’s called a Collings OM2H. Custom shop brand out of Austin Texas! They have a very unique sound and are some of the best made acoustics in the world imo. I currently play a dreadnought which has a much large body, making the sound a bit louder and “boomier.” This model is an OM which means it’s a bit smaller and has a slightly more articulate sound. Really nice for finger picking :) I’ve always wanted a Collings lol they r just super expensive

absolutely feel you on this. ive found that delayed gratification means you many times dont want what you think you do. i practice this too and have just unlocked a much bigger prize than i intended because of the discipline i practice and kept saving past the original target.

This is what I did about 10 years ago and it’s worked well for me. I’m pretty impulsive after I do deep research. I basically have a savings account where I pull all hobbies from.

This includes, watches, Pokemon, golf, pins, audiophile gear, etc. it works well for my brain and I never feel guilt bc it’s budgeted for

no doubt about it and a very valid question. Personally, it’s the love of craftsmanship and intricate design that comes with these watches. The complexity under the hood is amazing and I used to love videos of people taking apart watches as a kid. They also are timeless pieces of jewelry to me, and I’d rather check the time on something that holds intricate value to me over a phone. Maybe a reminder to be less digital too. All that or I could be pretentious, haven’t figured out which one yet 😂

I’m genuinely interested in why to wear a mechanical watch in the digital age? You can get so much more from a digital device - maps, alerts/schedules, various trackers, emergency calls.

Plus imagine selling it in about 10-15 years. People will not be able to read what the hour it is \_-_-_/
