Biden Pledges $1 Billion for Disaster Recovery in Africa
⏺President Joe Biden, during his official visit to Angola, announced a $1 billion investment to support African countries recovering from natural disasters. The funds will focus on rebuilding homes and transportation infrastructure across the continent.
⏺Additionally, the U.S. plans to allocate $3 billion to reconstruct a key railway corridor linking Zambia, Congo, and Angola. This project is aimed at reducing China's influence in Africa while ensuring critical minerals needed for clean energy technologies and electric vehicles are transported efficiently for export.
⏺Biden emphasized Africa’s growing importance, stating that by 2050, one in four people worldwide will be African.
