The doorbell rang, and I thought it was early trick-or-treaters. Instead it was my neighbor holding a gigantic slice of chocolate cake. It must’ve been a quarter of the cake. He explained that he’s baking a cake for his son’s birthday this weekend and wants to get it just perfect. So he’s experimenting with multiple recipes. He said he may be back with more cake variations for us. Very wholesome and has improved my Pavlovian response to the sound of the doorbell.
