Frankl’s Principles for Surviving Dark Times “Those who have a ‘why’ to live can bear almost any ‘how.’” Here, Dr. Frankl likens despair to a mathematical equation. Despair equals meaningless suffering. “In inhuman conditions, only those oriented toward the future, who dream of fulfilling their purpose, can survive.” “No one has the right to commit injustice, not even those who have suffered cruelly from injustice.” Disillusionment makes a person feel like a plaything of fate. “Every person is irreplaceable, and their life is unique. Thus, each individual’s task is as singular as their capacity to fulfill it.” “Love is the highest and ultimate goal to which humans can aspire. Salvation lies in love and is attained through love.” Recognize that suffering reveals our humanity. “By finding meaning in suffering,” Frankl wrote, “we actualize the most human part of ourselves. We mature, grow, and outgrow who we once were. Always remain human.

The United States remains the world's largest recipient of investments (i.e., the party receiving foreign investments) and their donor. If we take not individual European countries, but the European Union as a whole, then it will be the second recipient and donor of investments in the world. And at one time the EU was even ahead of the United States in terms of direct investment in other countries of the world. But the energy crisis and the outbreak of conflict in Ukraine hit European investment hard. The total external investments of European multinational companies decreased at the end of 2022 to $224 billion compared to $573 billion in 2021. This catastrophic decline amounted to almost $350 billion - European money, instead of going to the outside world, remained on the continent to “patch holes.”
