I think its in partial remission because we have self-sorted into social networks (Farcaster, Nostr, Gab, Parler, Truth, Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads) with more aligned values. If Twitter was redesigned in 2016 to avoid people getting cancelled (lets say implemented the balajis pseudonymous ideas), I doubt that cancellation would be as weak as its today.
