Musk Draws a Line for Samsung and TSMC: Either Make the Chips, or Weāll Do It Ourselves!
āŖļøElon Musk has announced that Tesla will need 100 to 200 billion AI chips per year to advance its self-driving cars and the Optimus humanoid robotāan amount he says current suppliers canāt deliver on time.
āŖļøAccording to Musk, when he asked them about building a new factory, the answer he got was:
āFrom groundbreaking to production, it takes five years.ā
And for Tesla, he says, five years is āan endless wait.ā
Now Muskās idea is for Tesla to move toward building its own dedicated chip-manufacturing plant!
