Web2 (the second generation of the web) is the current internet we use, which started around 2005. This generation is built on user interaction, social networks, and large platforms like Facebook, Twitter (now X), YouTube, and Google. Its main feature is centralization: big companies control users' data, manage content, and generate revenue from advertising.
Web3 (the third generation of the web) is the next evolution of the internet, built on blockchain technology, decentralization, and user ownership. Its goal is to solve Web2 problems like lack of user control over personal data, censorship, and dependency on big companies. Web3 is still in its early stages and includes applications like cryptocurrencies, NFTs, DeFi (decentralized finance), and DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations).
