“I often think about how lucky I am to have grown up in the country I did”
I didn’t grow up in the US, a third-world country, my whole life, dealing with economic chaos, currency crashes, and banks failing, wiping out life savings. My parents used to tell stories of queuing for hours just for bread. Still, I was lucky to have a roof over my head.
Seeing classmates drop out after 9th grade to immigrate, hustling to send money home, only to hit bank fees and delays, was tough. In high school, I got curious about stocks, dreamed of buying Apple, but had no access anywhere to even start. 1 reply
