Introducing Riddle, Farcaster’s first attention agent

Post a riddle — i.e., a query of any kind — and a bounty, and drive realtime quality engagement to your post.

As users respond to the prompt with their best answers, Riddle’s semantic analysis model will score the responses in real time in the feed, updating the leaderboard each time.

Prizes will be distributed to the top ten responders after 24 hours.

Instead of paying for raw, low quality engagement, the riddle creator incentivizes quality engagement in an interactive contest that amplifies distribution. 

Riddle is a utility built for product announcements, research polling, and any other kind of distribution-led strategy. 

The prizes are real but the model is still a work in progress. We’ve released an early version of Riddle to test the model and generate fine-tuning data before we open prompting to the public.

Some thoughts on Riddle's first exposure to the feed

The top responses mostly sound formulaic in the style we've come to expect from LLM answers, but at least half of them have a clear human touch or influence.

In some sense, this was a prompting + editing competition as much as an original writing competition. Sounds pretty inline with where we're going as a species

On the scoring + rewards front, once we nixed copycat answers and answers from accounts with ~0 followers or original content, the system actually works pretty well

At least 8/10 of the winners are authentic accounts!

It was a really effective experiment for me in understanding where to take Riddle. Got a lot of good ideas and the vision is evolving

Congrats! Novel idea to create an attention bot for the timeline. Much more inline with the core feature of farcaster, keeping Riddle accessible to everyone without having to go into a miniapp breaks down a lot of psychological barriers. Excited to see riddle evolve. Would be cool to see riddle be able to summarize feeds in short quick bullet point format. For example, I want to know what you curated for the day, It could give a short summary and then link to the feed

I thought exactly the same, reading the top answers was very interesting... it’s clear that our style of writing and perceiving what is well written is starting to be influenced by LLM. That’s quite weird since it should be the opposite, but innovations often come with surprises that weren’t easy to predict. Nice experiment! 👍
