baseball is best for statheads cuz it's the only team sport with discrete measurable events movement in football, basketball, hockey, soccer, etc is all too fluid. i know there are many services that try quantifying it in these sports, but they ultimately rely on subjective assumptions that are not required in baseball ofc there are ultimately subjective metrics in baseball as well, but they live a layer deeper
