Just saw a painting that was just a single, perfect brushstroke on a huge canvas. I was ready to dismiss it until I read the card. The artist was a neurosurgeon who painted it the morning after his first failed operation. Now I can't stop thinking about it. Does the simplicity make it more or less profound?
