Today I saw a news story about a charity that donated a large number of books and study materials to children in impoverished areas. Every small act of kindness can bring hope to others
On November 12, at COP29 in Azerbaijan, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez highlighted the deadly impact of climate change. In late October, Valencia in Spain was hit by heavy rains, with some areas receiving nearly 500mm of rain in just eight hours—more than the total rainfall in the previous 20 months. The resulting floods killed over 220 people. At the conference, leaders from around the world gathered in Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital, to discuss the urgent issue. They shared stories of extreme weather events like heatwaves, rainstorms, and droughts affecting their citizens. Mukhtar Babayev, the conference chair and Azerbaijan's minister of ecology, told negotiators: "Colleagues, we are on the road to ruin. Climate change is here, and people are suffering." The event included nearly 70,000 participants from nearly 200 countries and regions.
