A personal update! After an incredible 3.5 years at a16z crypto, I've decided to join my brother @3lau to build a new crypto protocol @joinroyal! There are a few other things in the works too—more on that soon 👀 I am deeply grateful for having the opportunity to be a part of the a16z crypto team. @cdixon.eth, @asimpson, @alive, @eddy, @milesjennings, and @kimbatronic, you have created the most extraordinary team in the industry, and I'm endlessly thankful for your mentorship and support over the years. To the investment team (you know who you are): You're not just colleagues—you're family. You are all exceptional, and I've learned so much from each of you. It's been an immense privilege to work with so many brilliant founders. You are the ones on the cutting edge shaping the future of crypto, and you've inspired me more than anyone. NFT royalties were never enforced onchain, even though everyone expected them to be. Onchain royalties on secondary sales have always been an important value proposition of NFTs, but they’ve been misunderstood for a while now. In a way, NFT royalties reached product-market fit before there ever was a “product.” Creators now have a few different solutions to choose from, but each come with tradeoffs that can be difficult to navigate.
