if you completely remove all the blockchain terminology what is causing the NFTs and the crypto communities to fail so tremendously over and over, what do they keep getting wrong? brands are like lightning rods, and they do two things incredibly well, • they attract votes in the form of dollars. • they create a mold for the ideal customer. when we look at web3 brands we see the same playbook — wealthy groups, forming group chats, with the objective of "penny in, penny out". but the marketing in web3 has been repeated. from BAYC to Gary Vee to Memecoins to Coinbase. each one strings along authentic connection and "Penny in, Penny out" now, this isn't about cultural barriers or wealth inequality, this is just examining the pattern of capable people forming groups, making rules through authority, and failing hard. if authentic connect is followed by advice on what you should do financially, or what risks you should make, it's no longer authentic connection... it's marketing. yet failure to discern this [enframement] has led to so many people turning into imposters, joining tribes they don't actually believe in for the opportunity, and slowly it all fades away. and we've always hated brand posers • scene kids • hipsters • trend riders they're fake, they always try to weasel in our groups, but they're hard to sus out online, especially when there's a financial opportunity, but no matter how hard we try, we can't buy culture. we've seen there's room to build deeper connections online, but we incorrectly place financial gain at the helm of crypto culture, and it feels like king of the hill. a constant competition to be the biggest fish in the sea, not a team of the best people working together. brands fail over and over because they keep rushing to build an aquarium, and expect the most exotic, rare, and talented fish to just hop in. and fall in love with them. and when that fails they get confused, we built the tank! and the audience looks and says... that feels weird, but they don't articulate it well, not because they aren't smart or capable, but because the shows over, and they're really disappointed. brands in web3 have just continued to repeat the disappointing shows.
