A watch that I was previously unfamiliar with is on my radar, Hitori Yoshino. Despite the name, it's assembled in China, but it uses a Seiko automatic movement. I think what sings to me is it's less than $400, a bit of an homage to Grand Seiko (but not really), plus I love the Japanese styling. Anyone familiar?

I mean, it is as much of an homagge as possible, right? Not that there's anything wrong with that. But that combo of colors, especially the blue seconds dial? C'mon

Lately I've been gravitating more towards the sub $500 microbrand watches that have good finishing. Also really getting into vintage watches.

Oh, do tell. Always in a mood for some good microbrands recommendations. I've been eyeing the Namica watches, specifically the Shirahama, but it's always sold out... I'm a sucker for that baby blue on watches.

don't even get me started on brew metric. One of the few watches I wanted for a really long time, extremely fun and original dial, and again, being in the EU sucks major ass. Traska looks great, but I can't stop comparing them to Monta (much higher price, I know). I will check out Laarve, thank you!

Brew Metric is probably #1 on my radar right now lol. I've even put in a few lowball offers to see if I can get one. The thing I don't understand is why some are listing them at like $500+ for pre-owned when I can get the exact same model brand new for less? Feel like I'm missing something. Do they not ship to the EU or something?

Probably the Rolex thing. They were sold out soon after Teddy Baldasare (or Urban Gentry, can't recall) recommended it, so the used market skyrocketed. And people rarely knock down the price after it comes in stock. Tbh, I kinda forgot about it for a while, after seeing it was sold out for a long time, and didn't check if the ship to EU now or not.

If I were to get one, it'd probably be this one which I think is OG? It's in stock...I see these being listed for crazy dollar amounts which yeah, I think maybe it's a lack of awareness problem. Ain't gonna spend $600 on a pre-owned when I can get the brand new for $475. Fair market price is probably closer to $350 (but I'm lowballing even lower than that, haha)

Oh, definitely that one for me as well. Gold is nice but too much of a steampunk vibe for me.

same. I generally actually like gold for a lot of watches, but I think for Brew, this one is just perfect. Also, I don't have any meca-quartz watches and that movement seems really interesting to me (seems to be some sort of hybrid of movement + quartz)

I do have to admit I'm a bit hesitant to buy a quartz movement (if not in a g-shock type of watch). Just... My prejudice that I'm trying to get rid off. I do understand they are trying to keep the cost down. But an entry level seiko nh or sellita movement is not that expensive. Also, yeah, didn't like gold watches. Until I saw the green dial on gold Speedmaster. Then I was in love.
