With only 2 weeks just go to Kyoto and stay there, take a leap to Nara my tram. Go there for Gion Matsuri, just google that.
Best season, best festival, best food, best city.
Just use AirBNB and book very early.
Travel and Accomodation is the most expensive stuff in JP.
Just enjoy Kyoto, Nara, Uji. All one region!
