The state of Ethereum L2s is quite interesting. With over 150 different L2s built on Ethereum, liquidity and interest are so fragmented that only full-scale global adoption could properly utilize this supply. However, at the same time, their scalability is nowhere near ready for such a level of adoption. Picking just one of them to bet on seems like the craziest move right now, especially considering that by the next bull market, their number could easily double and the current favorites could fade into oblivion. As in most industries, 2-3 major players will likely remain in the long term. I see Base as an exception, but not because it's fundamentally different from the others—simply because it's backed by one of the most important entities in the space: Coinbase.
