For a while, we kept an ordinary succulent at home called Stapelia—a quiet, unassuming plant that showed nothing remarkable beyond its steady growth and propagation. Until one day, while walking through the bustling stalls of the flower and plant market, I suddenly saw a bloom from that very Stapelia—a breathtaking flower, short-lived but deeply impactful. When I was younger, I was unhappy about being born in a tropical and desert region. I loved forests and the sea I sought nature and beauty only in shades of green. But later, as I grew older, I discovered endless wonders in the desert. Each one was like a shining star in the dark nights of the desert.

Last summer, I was working at a different factory. The factory was located in an industrial town, and the laboratory was the closest place to the main entrance. Many times, I saw various insects making their way into the lab. One day, I noticed a small butterfly fluttering gently inside. After much effort, I managed to catch it in a plastic container, hoping to release it safely outside. But later that noon, when I stepped out for lunch, I found the delicate creature crushed beside a wall—a bitter sight that lingered in my mind. Since then, I’ve tried not to interfere in such matters, sparing myself the weight of guilt that follows well-meaning but futile actions.
