Documentary (1/1’s). Santeria is a syncretic religion that developed in Cuba during the 19th century. It blends the beliefs & practices of the Yoruba people from West Africa with elements of Catholicism brought over by Spanish colonizers. Santeria is based on the veneration of orishas, or deities, who represent the forces of nature and human qualities. Each orisha has its own personality, attributes, and offerings. Santeria rituals involve music, dance, chanting, and offerings to the orishas, as well as as divination, healing, and spiritual possession. Santeria has been an integral part of Cuban culture for centuries, with millions of Cubans practicing it alongside Catholicism. However, it has also faced persecution and marginalization by the government and mainstream society. Today, Santeria is recognized as an official religion in Cuba and enjoys a resurgence of interest and respect both on the island and beyond. https://opensea.io/collection/spirit-of-cuba
