At the same time, the country, as Forbes USA found, has the highest cryptocurrency adoption rate in the Western Hemisphere, but reliable exchanges are almost never used Inflation in Argentina has totaled 276% over the past 12 months, and its rapid growth is clearly demonstrated by the changing diet of the country’s residents. Demand for beef, the staple food of Argentines, is falling as people switch to less expensive sources of protein like pork and chicken. With some experts predicting prices to rise by as much as 600% this year, steaks are not on the table for now. And while Argentines are only just beginning to think about changing their diet (they consume twice as much beef per capita as the United States), they have been finding ways to exchange the ever-cheapening peso for decades.
