Could governments fully ban Bitcoin? While governments have the power to impose bans on Bitcoin-related activities, fully eradicating Bitcoin is extremely challenging. Bitcoin’s decentralized nature means it operates on a global network beyond the control of any single country. Attempts to ban Bitcoin typically lead to increased underground trading or shifts to decentralized exchanges. Some nations have banned or restricted Bitcoin, but even then, global users often find ways to access it. A complete ban might also push Bitcoin development into more resilient, peer-to-peer channels, diminishing central oversight. Ultimately, while governments can restrict institutional and commercial usage within their borders, completely eliminating Bitcoin would require unprecedented international coordination and enforcement, making a full ban unlikely.
