Soulbound NFTs (SBTs) are non-transferable digital assets tied to a specific individual or entity, representing achievements, certifications, or reputations. Unlike traditional NFTs, which can be sold or traded, SBTs are permanently linked to the owner, making them ideal for academic credentials, professional certifications, or membership verifications. Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, introduced the concept to enhance Web3’s trust system. However, challenges include privacy risks, loss of access due to forgotten keys, and the potential misuse of immutable reputation-based records.
