Trump also threatened to "substantially increase" tariffs on imported U.S. cars starting April 2 if Canada does not remove other long-standing high tariffs, a move that would "basically put Canada's auto manufacturing industry out of business permanently."
He also reiterated his call for Canada to be incorporated into the United States as the "51st state."
