Regulatory scrutiny on privacy coins like Monero and Zcash has intensified, making them harder to trade on centralized exchanges. Governments are pushing for stricter anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance, reducing liquidity for these assets. While privacy coins remain popular in niche communities, their mainstream adoption is shrinking. Alternative solutions, such as privacy-focused Layer 2 networks and zero-knowledge proofs within major blockchains, may replace traditional privacy coins. Unless regulatory attitudes change, privacy coins could face continued marginalization, limiting their growth in 2025.
