Not sure if you want answers here but I have opinions.
1. The desire for nonconformity is innate but the ability to implement can be taught. I wrote an essay on this recently https://paragraph.xyz/@matt/non-conformist
2. Impossible to know without having actually have had to risk my life for anything.
