yuzu nanban with pumpkin seeds. tldr; karaage but prepared with a sweet vinegar-based sauce. these were so bright and citrusy yet not too sweet. really nice for the summer season. the term nanban means “southern barbarians” which historically referred to spanish/portuguese traders and missionaries who arrived in japan in the 16th century. in a culinary context, it came to be used to describe dishes influenced by western newcomers.

@brileigh thinks they were spicy, I think they were fairly mild. we’ve had this discussion about pretty much every dish we’ve ever shared.
